Day 143

"I'll be honest with you, son: you might never get better. I have no earthly clue how I'm going to open this bottle, let alone climb up and in to fill this syringe."

Day 130

Enduring short jokes during basic training was easy enough, but McDonnell was starting to realize the obstacles he'd face during flight training. The odds of becoming a warrant officer are pretty low when you can't reach the controls.

Day 100

WOO HOO! The century mark! I've still got 265 to go, and wow that sounds like a lot all of a sudden, but hey, I'm excited anyway!

Try as she might, Veronica's "Flight of the Bumblebee" always sounded more like "Crawl of the Sleepy Caterpillar."

Day 75

Alan was disappointed to find out that on the outside, Cowboys stadium was much smaller than he'd originally thought. He figured it would have been at least a few inches taller than he was.

Day 65

Aaron knew he really hadn't grown a bit since his last checkup, but he fervently hoped the doctor wouldn't notice that he was standing on his toes.

Day 29

Joey was very disappointed. Apparently, you have to be THIS tall to ride on the planes at Love Field airport, and he just didn't quite make it.

This statue is of a Texas Ranger, and it's one of the first things you see when you enter the terminal at Dallas Love Field. It's immediately in front of the security lines. The inscription, which isn't visible in this photo, is "One Riot, One Ranger," referring to an incident when a single Texas Ranger was sent to quell a riot. More pictures of the statue--from a 'real' perspective, anyway--can be found here and here (scroll all the way down on that page).
